Lifestyle in AustraliaTravel / Immigration restrictions across different countries

Impact on Tourism:

Covid-19 has destroyed the tourism industry across world. Now that we have vaccines and cases are getting reduced, it’s almost time that all the countries open international borders and resume tourism industry.

Covid-19 is also proving to be a catalyst in the Travel & Tourism sector’s quest for innovation and the integration of new technologies such as biometrics, which would enable a more seamless traveller experience.

As global Travel & Tourism starts seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and work to accelerate the resumption of safe international travel takes place, it is essential the sector rebuilds trust to travel. While the pent-up demand is significant, ever-changing travel restrictions have affected consumer confidence to book.

Impact on Immigration:

Covid-19 pandemic is having an unprecedented impact on immigration policies and processes worldwide. In order to contain the spread of the virus, dozens of jurisdictions implement new measures or change existing ones daily.

  • Travel restrictions:Although wide-ranging entry restrictions have been steadily decreasing, most countries still have partial bans for some foreign nationals (sometimes excluding residents of the destination country) based on particular outbreaks.
  • Quarantine requirements:There are still many varied upon-entry quarantine requirements across the world. In some countries, proof of negative COVID-19 test results, vaccination and/or health certificate rules have started to replace strict quarantine requirements.
  • Health assessments:Additionally, on-arrival health questionnaires and health assessments have become common pre-boarding requirements for international flights.

Canada immigration:
As per the latest news release on 5th July, fully vaccinated travellers arriving by land or air, who are eligible to enter Canada and who comply with specific criteria will not be required to quarantine or complete a day-8 test. In addition, fully vaccinated travellers arriving by air will not be required to stay at a government-authorized accommodation (GAA) to await their on-arrival test result.

Australia Immigration:

You cannot go to Australia unless you are an Australian citizen, permanent resident or in an exempt category. The Department of Home Affairs looks after this entry ban.

If you’re travelling to Australia, you must provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 PCR or RT-PCR test to your airline when checking in for your flight at the departure point. Rapid antigen tests will not be accepted. Testing must be conducted at an accredited testing facility, a self-administered COVID-19 test undertaken at home without supervision is not acceptable.

New Zealand Immigration:

Borders remain closed – those who are permitted to travel to New Zealand must stay in Managed Isolation and Quarantine for 14 days.

Now that all the countries are slowly reducing the travel restrictions and relaxing the entry criteria, It is time for all of us to get vaccinated. Even if the restrictions are relaxed, the travellers may have to show the proof of Covid-19 vaccination to avoid any further complications from the tourism/immigration.
