The recovery visa is a unique way for New Zealanders to come back into the workforce. It’s designed to help people who have overcome hardship and are ready to start their lives again. The recovery visa allows you to work legally in New Zealand for up to five years, and gives you time off from your job if needed so that you can focus on getting back on track with your life.

What is the New Zealand Recovery Visa?

The recovery visa provides an opportunity for you to travel, work and study in New Zealand while your application is processed by Immigration New Zealand (INZ). This can be an important step on your journey through the immigration process, because it means that INZ will be able to assess whether you meet all the criteria for permanent residency or citizenship under our immigration law, which includes things like meeting English language requirements and having enough money to support yourself if granted residence or citizenship
