Work Life in Australia

AustraliaWork Life in Australia!

Hey there, hope you are staying home and taking precautionary measures for Covid-19.

In our previous articles, we have learnt about Lifestyle in Australia, Student Life in Australia. Now let’s know more about work life in Australia.

Unlike in some other English-speaking countries, there is no automatic right associated with your student visa to stay and work for a period of time in Australia after you complete your degree. When you receive your student visa, the government lets you in on a temporary basis of entry for study with the understanding that you will leave upon completion of course and before the visa will expire. Australia continues to have demand for foreign workers and students that have earned a degree in Australia have a special work visa category.

485 Skilled Graduate Temporary Visa

This visa is the most common option available for international students after graduating. With a 485 visa, you are allowed to stay in Australia for 18 months to gain work experience only if you have just completed at least two years of study in Australia. So, you can make use of it and get a job.

There are ten National Employment Standards that employers must adhere to and these represent the minimum standard of what you should expect in the workplace in Australia.

  • Maximum weekly hours (38 ordinary hours in a week) and governance over how many hours can be worked in any one day.
  • Flexible working – for example, if someone is a carer, has young children, or if they are experiencing challenges at home.
  • Parental, maternity, and adoption leave.
  • Annual leave – a minimum of 4 weeks, adjusted pro-rata for those who work part time.
  • Carer’s and compassionate leave.
  • Community service leave, although, with the exception of jury service, this is unpaid.
  • Long service leave – rules for this are governed by the local state or territory.
  • Public holidays – again, these vary depending on which state or territory you settle in
  • Rules for termination of employment, notice, and redundancy pay.
  • Fair work information statement — a document that must be given to a new employee outlining their rights under law and how to make a complaint if they don’t think they have been treated properly.

Why should you work and live in Australia? Here are some reasons you should know:

  • It is well-known that Australia has an active economy that has been strengthened over the last decades. International commerce is orientated to the fabrication of high-value products and services.
  • Australia is considered one of the safest countries on the planet. It has low levels of crime and efficient police forces.
  • Migrants working and living in Australia are entitled to some pension benefits. If you want to get these benefits you must meet the age and residency requirements.
  • The visa approval process of the qualified migration program takes, on average, 18 months, which is considered fast compared to other countries.

Australia is a popular destination for jobseekers who want to migrate to another country. The country has favorable features that make it a desirable destination for individuals to make a career. How Safe is Canada for Immigrants

Canada is among the top countries considered to be ‘safe and stable’ for immigrants and has further improved its position as the ‘go-to’ study / live / work / invest destination because of its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, the survey suggests that countries considered to be ‘safe and stable’ are not necessarily viewed as being ‘open and welcoming.’ However, Canada is one of the top countries that are considered to be both.

In fact, Canada has introduced some measures to allow international students to travel to their desired destination. Students who wish to travel to Canada only need to be attending a college or university that has obtained approval on its COVID-19 readiness plan from the provincial government in which the institution is in. It does not matter where the student is travelling from.

The first survey was conducted in May 2020. Findings from that survey showed Canada as one of the countries who are ahead of the pack, alongside New Zealand and Australia.

Research was repeated in September 2020. Canada had improved its overall position since May, but was now competing with the United Kingdom for the top spot, instead of the Oceanic states.

Along with the federal and provincial programs for immigration that are available, the following are the biggest reasons that make Canada a great place for immigrants.

1. Economy Opportunity

In the wake of an unstable U.S. economy, many immigrants are now looking to other countries for new opportunities. Canada has been ranked as one of the most vibrant and efficient markets for labour.

Canada has the 10th largest economy in the world according to the latest GDP ranking. Though the country has a huge amount of natural resources, the economy is more service-oriented. In fact, more than 75% of Canadians are employed in the service sector according to Statistics Canada.

2. Cultural Diversity

Canada has a strong reputation for its openness to immigrants. There are no anti-immigration political parties. This underscores the progressive attitudes of Canada, and sets it apart from other destinations that immigrants might consider.

Nearly 20% of the population in Canada are of foreign origin which makes it a truly multi-cultural society. Big cities like Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal have significant percentage of immigrant population. The diverse nature of the population indicates the inclusive nature of Canadian society.

This has influenced the world’s view of Canada. A large proportion of the world’s population recognizes Canada as a nation that respects freedoms and individual rights, welcomes immigrants, tolerates differing races and cultures, and offers a high quality of living.

3. Superior Education

Immigrant parents value a high level of education for their children. Canada’s affordable education system has contributed to its appeal to immigrants. It is considered one of the best educational systems in the world, and is easily accessible due to its affordable costs.

For parents immigrating to Canada, the high standards of its education provide future opportunities to their children that they might not otherwise have access to. Canadian diplomas and certificates are viewed by many as equivalent to those of the US.

This has increased the number of immigrant students in the country. It has increased the level of academic talent that Canadian companies look for in their own development efforts, and further stimulates a strong economy.

Immigration to Canada continues to rise, as the world recognizes the many benefits it offers. With a strong economy providing numerous opportunities and a culturally diverse population, many foreign-born citizens have reaped the rewards of immigrating to Canada. Its educational system makes it attractive to immigrants and has laid the foundation for future innovation and progress for all of Canada.

Canadian Work Permit

Hey there,

Hope you are enjoying our informative articles. You can always contact us for any further information on all these articles.

In this article, we are going to discuss about obtaining a work permit in Canada. Benefits of Canadian work permit, Eligibility criteria, process and procedure to apply and much more.

Benefits of Canadian Work Permit

Working in Canada has many benefits. Canadian labour laws ensure that workplaces have a high-degree of safety and that all employers follow certain laws and regulations to ensure the well being of their employees. As well, Canadian wages are competitive and foreign nationals are required, by law, to be offered wages equivalent to their Canadian counterparts.

The proposed work permit will allow foreign employees working in Canada to leave an abusive employer and look for other options. It can create competitive working conditions for both foreign and domestic workers. But for every job offer that a foreign worker is willing to accept, it requires an approved LMIA to ensure the protection of the local labor market.

Foreigners who come to work under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program can work in the country for up to one year. With the proposed work permit foreign workers can arrive at a new job after working for another employer with only a few months left in their work permit before it expires.

Eligibility Criteria

There are specific requirements you need to meet while applying for your work permit.

But regardless of where you apply or which type of work permit you apply for, you must

  • Prove to an officer that you will leave Canada when your work permit expires
  • Show that you have enough money to take care of yourself and your family members during your stay in Canada and to return home
  • Obey the law and have no record of criminal activity
  • Not plan to work for an employer listed with the status “ineligible” on the list of employers who failed to comply with the conditions
  • Give the officer any other documents they ask for to prove you can enter the country

Process and Procedure

The process for obtaining a Canadian work permit varies greatly depending on which type of work permit a person is applying. For example, an international student studying in Canada will often times be automatically issued authorization to work part-time as part of their study permit authorization.

Most closed work permit applications require that a foreign national has an official job offer from a Canadian employer which is supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). Even those who are LMIA-exempt or exempt from requiring a work permit should be aware of the unique documentation they need to prepare in order to ensure they are granted entry to Canada. There are two general pathways for obtaining a Canadian work permit: a closed work permit and an open work permit.

How we process for your work permit

We will check your application to make sure you have all the necessary documents, including biometrics.

Click here to check your eligibility.

You might need a medical exam to enter Canada. If you do, an officer will tell you and will send you instructions on what to do. A medical exam can add over 3 months to the time it takes us to process your application.

Processing time

Due to COVID-19, we can’t provide accurate processing times.

If your work permit application is approved

You will get an approval letter that says you’re allowed to work in Canada. This letter is called the port of entry letter of introduction.

You should bring this letter with you when you travel to Canada and present it at the port of entry. This letter is not your work permit.

You will only get your work permit at the port of entry the day you arrive in Canada.

The work permit will outline

  • Type of work you can do
  • Employer you can work for
  • Where you can work
  • How long you can work

Below is the list of common occupation with average salaries in Canada (approx.)

OCCUPATION ANNUAL SALARY

Canada’s Immigration Plan – 2021

Canada’s Immigration Plan – 2021

We are here with good news!

IRCC has released the details of Canada’s Immigration level plans for the year 2021. Canada Aims to welcome 401,000 new permanent residents in 2021 (this is the highest levels in Canada’s immigration history) and increase the numbers in next 2 years as well.

This news came in late October 2020. However, the recent progress is a sign that Canada is moving towards it’s target of 401,000 and chances are good that Canada will see the required number of migrants moving into the country.

What makes us feel so?

Marco Mendicino (Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship – Canada) Said that 26,600 new permanent residents were admitted in 2021 January.

“Canada is innovating immigration during the pandemic to accelerate our economic recovery and reunite more families,” tweeted Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino in early December.

Express entry draw which took place on 13th Feb 2021 issued a whooping 27,332 invitations. This is the highest ever in Canada’s immigration history.

These are clear indications of Canada’s intention to increase the migration intake.

Canada is maintaining high levels of immigration to offset the negative economic and fiscal impacts of its aging population and low birth rate.

Canada has one of the world’s oldest populations, with nearly 18 per cent of its population being age 65 and over. It also has one of the world’s lowest birth rates at 1.47 births per woman. As such, Canada will face challenges growing its economy and supporting government spending in the future. These challenges can be alleviated by welcoming more immigrants to support labor force and economic growth.

Why wait? Take up this opportunity to migrate to Canada & start your life.

Click here to find out the best way to migrate!

Nearly 60 percent of new permanent residents will come through economic immigration pathways that prioritise skilled workers and their families. This is in line with Canada’s immigration levels plans for the past several years.

“We believe strongly in building Canada through immigration. Immigration is helping us get through the pandemic, and will be the key to both our short-term economic recovery and long-term prosperity,” said Canada’s Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino, in the lead up to releasing the 2020-2023 Immigration Levels Plan.

There are multiple ways to Migrate to Canada. Based on your profile and the eligibility criteria, you can apply through different streams to get invited for PR. Choose your stream from below list:

  • Express Entry
  • Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
  • Family Class Sponsorship
  • Canada Study Permit
  • LMIA Work Visa

Apart from the above streams, there are other ways to get into Canada:

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
