Canada to ease covid-19 test requirements for travellers

Fully vaccinated travellers will be able to enter Canada with a pre-arrival antigen test, unvaccinated children travellers will no longer have to isolate for 14 days, and international flights to all Canadian airports will resume starting February 28.

Also, if fully vaccinated travellers are selected for a random on-arrival test, they will no longer have to quarantine while waiting on results.

The pre-arrival antigen test must be approved by the country travellers are coming from, and taken no more than 24 hours before arriving at the border, or their scheduled flight. Taking a rapid antigen test at home is not sufficient to meet the pre-entry requirement. The test it must be administered by a laboratory, healthcare entity or telehealth service. Travellers can still use a PCR test within 72 hours before arrival. There were no changes to the previous guidelines on molecular tests.

Travellers will still need to upload documents via the ArriveCAN app before crossing the border.

Unvaccinated travellers will still need to be tested on arrival and quarantine for 14 days. They will also need to do a test on day eight of their quarantine.

Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos made the announcement on February 15 in Ottawa, the nation’s capital. He was joined by the ministers of transport, public safety, tourism, and intergovernmental affairs.

Travel Minister Omar Alghabra announced that international flights to all Canadian airports will resume at the end of the month. The notice to airmen that restricts international flights will expire at 4 p.m. Eastern Time, according to a media release.

Canada will adjust its travel advisory from a level 3 to a level 2. This means the government will no longer recommend that Canadians avoid travel for non-essential purposes. However, the minister still urged Canadians to understand the risks associated with international travel during the pandemic.

Duclos said these measures are transitory, and may be adjusted as the COVID-19 situation changes. He suggested that if hospitalization rates decline in the near future, further easing of restrictions may follow.

Reduction of border measures anticipated

The health minister had signalled last week that changes were forthcoming, as Canada’s chief public health officer, Dr. Theresa Tam, said the country is seeking more sustainable plans to manage COVID-19.

Travellers to Canada currently must be fully vaccinated, with few exceptions. Unvaccinated travellers must quarantine. Vaccinated travellers need a pre-arrival COVID-19 PCR test taken at least 72 hours before crossing the border, and may be subject to a random on-arrival test.

Duclos said last week the worst of the Omicron wave is now behind Canada, and the government will continue to adjust measures accordingly.

Tam confirmed Canada’s travel advisory against international travel is being assessed.

Meanwhile, provincial governments are rolling back COVID-19 measures, and doing away with vaccine passport requirements. Manitoba plans to lift COVID-19 restrictions by mid-March. Ontario moved up its timeline to lax public health measures. Quebec, Alberta, and Saskatchewan have also announced plans to roll back restrictions.

In recent weeks, Canada has also been facing pressure from health experts and the tourism industry to lift the COVID-19 test requirement.

Last month, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended countries lift international travel bans as “they do not provide added value” and contribute to economic and social stress. The spread of the Omicron variant has demonstrated that border measures are ineffective against the highly contagious variant. However, WHO also said travel measures like masking, testing, quarantine and vaccination should be based on risk assessment, and avoid placing the financial burden on international travellers.

WHO also said countries should not require proof of vaccination against COVID-19 as the only condition permitting international travel, given the limited global access and inequitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines.

Updates on UK immigration with new routes to apply through

Why has immigration to the UK changed?

When the UK was an EU member, people from EU countries had an automatic right to work in the UK.

Taking control of immigration was one of the key themes of the Leave campaign in the 2016 referendum.

The new system for work visas is based on points.

The exception to this is Irish citizens, who are still able to live and work in the UK as part of the Common Travel Area.

How are points awarded?

To qualify for a visa, migrant workers who want to move to the UK will have to qualify for 70 points.

Having a job offer from an approved employer for a skilled job and being able to speak English will give 50 points.

The applicant can achieve the remaining 20 points if they are due to be paid at least £25,600 a year.

They can also gain extra points for having better qualifications (10 points for a relevant PhD, or 20 points for a PhD in science, technology, engineering or maths) or an offer of a job in which the UK has a shortage (20 points), even if it doesn’t pay as much money.

Certain jobs in health or education still merit 20 points even if the salary is less than £25,600. The applicant must be paid at least £20,480, and in line with set amounts for particular jobs in the UK’s four nations.

High Potential Individual

The High Potential Individual route will be open to applicants who have graduated from a top global university. There will be no job requirement and there will be an option to extend the visa and settle in the UK, unlike with the new Graduate route that launched on 1 July 2021. The government has said it will explore opportunities to expand this route to other categories of high potential.

Scale-up

The Scale-up route will be open to individuals with a high-skilled job offer from a qualifying scale-up and a required salary level. Individuals will be able to extend their visa and settle in the UK. They will also be able to switch jobs or employers. Scale-ups that can demonstrate an average revenue or employment growth rate of more than 20% over a three-year period and at least 10 employees at the start of the three-year period will be able to expediate their verification process to use this route.

Innovator

The government has also announced plans to “revitalise” the Innovator route. The following changes have been set out in the UK Innovation Strategy:

  • the business eligibility criteria will be simplified so that applicants are required to demonstrate that their business venture has a high potential to grow and add value to the UK and is innovative.
  • a lighter touch endorsement process will be introduced for applicants whose business ideas are particularly advanced to match the best-in-class
  • international offers, with all applicants accepted on the Department for International Trade’s Global Entrepreneur Programme being automatically eligible.
  • there will no longer be a requirement to have at least £50,000 in investment funds where the endorsing body is satisfied that the applicant has sufficient funds to grow their business. the restriction on doing work outside of the applicant’s primary business will be removed.

What is the Skilled Worker Program?

The Skilled Worker Program has replaced the UK’s Tier 2 (General) work visa. Under the points-based immigration system, points will be awarded for a job offer at the appropriate skill level, knowledge of English and being paid a minimum salary. Skilled worker visas will be awarded to those who gain enough points.

  • Quick visa process
  • Spouse can work and earn
  • Free education for children

The UK Skilled Worker Program ‍

  1. Stay in the UK to do an eligible job with an approved employer
  2. 49,230+ employers on the list of approved UK employers
  3. Minimum salary threshold to be met
  4. 70 points needed to be able to apply
  5. Lower application fees and reduced salary requirement for occupations on Shortage Occupations List

Quebec releases 2022 list of occupations eligible for LMIA

Quebec has given a list of in-demand jobs which do not require the certification of LMIA. The certificate is required to prove that the recruitment of foreign nationals does not negatively hamper the employment of Canadian citizens with the same qualifications.

The Gibraltar of America, the Quebec province of Canada, has released an updated list of jobs that do not need an LMIA or Labour Market Impact Assessment certification. Compared to last year’s list of more than 181 jobs, the new list has been expanded.

The new list was released on February 24, 2022, effective immediately.

Changes made in the existing rules

Recently, many programs have been added to the list of jobs exempted from LMIA. The agreement signed between Quebec and Ottawa in 2021 increases the number of temporary foreign nationals employed by a workplace. It makes it easier for Quebec to hire foreign nationals.

The number of foreign nationals hired in a Canadian workplace has increased from 10 percent to 20 percent. The change exempts occupations having NOC Skill Level D. This category needs training on the job. These occupations will not require to post and demonstrate for recruitment.

*Check your eligibility for Quebec through the Quebec Immigration Points Calculator.

More details of the new rule

The additional LMIA-exempted professions have 228 jobs. The occupations are eligible for facilitated processing on the list and span all of Quebec. It takes into account the labour requirements of all the regions.

The employers and their representatives have 30 days of transition. The duration allows the submitted applications falling under the list to be reviewed.

Need for the changes

Quebec is witnessing a decline in the birth rate. Its citizens are mostly aged. It makes the province rank second in job vacancies in Canada. The CFIB’s (Canadian Federation of Independent Business) December report found that 64 percent of Quebec’s small businesses are experiencing labour shortages.

The Quebec government predicts that by 2026 newcomers and mainly temporary foreign workers will fill 22 percent of the job vacancies.

The Quebec government has adopted new policies given the increasing requirement of labour. It has actively revised its immigration policies to include more immigrants to work in the province.

The process of LMIA in Quebec

The Canadian employers must prove that they had advertised the vacancy in jobs before hiring temporary foreign nationals. They must submit proof of the recruitment efforts done by them.

The efforts consist of:

  • Advertising the vacancy of the position for 28 days
  • Proof of interviewing eligible Canadian candidates submitted to the Government of Canada. It is to prove that no Canadian citizen was suitable for the post.
  • Demonstrate the willingness and ability to hire a foreign worker in the specific position

The employers in Quebec who hire foreign workers temporarily for specific positions should also apply for LMIA. Their hiring application process is comparatively simple and quick.

The list for occupations of Quebec is drafted by MIFI or Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration along with Emploi-Québec. It has its roots in Canada’s NOC or National Occupational Classification 2016 system.

The federal and provincial authorities should approve the process for the facilitated LMIA applications. Due to this, the employers who hire foreign nationals in their workforce should submit an application and the required documents. The papers will be forwarded to the MIFI and the ESDC or Employment and Social Development Canada.

Australia opens its borders after 2 years – what to expect?

Australia reopens borders to tourists nearly after two years

The country earned the nickname ‘Fortress Australia’ following announcing its decision on travel ban, which not only imposed a strict cap on international arrivals but also barred citizens from going overseas

The move comes nearly two years after it first closed its international borders to slow the spread of COVID-19, and several months after beginning a gradual reopening that allowed certain tourists and foreign workers to enter the country.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison noted at a news conference that Australia has progressively opened its borders through programs with New Zealand, Singapore, Japan and South Korea, and also began welcoming international students and economic migrants late last year. That welcome will soon be extended to visa holders and international tourists, on one condition.

“The condition is, you must be double vaccinated to come to Australia,” Morrison said. “That’s the rule. Everyone is expected to abide by it.”

He added that quarantine requirements and cap arrangements on arrivals will continue, and are up to state governments to alter as they see fit.

Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews said that visa holders who are not fully vaccinated will still require a travel exemption to enter and will be subject to relevant state and territory quarantine requirements upon arrival. They also will need to provide proof that there is a medical reason they can’t be vaccinated, she added.

Officials acknowledged that they are seeking to balance public health with the country’s economic recovery. The return of international travel will be a boon to Australia’s struggling tourism industry, which has been largely reliant on domestic travelers.

“Australians have stepped up and traveled when they can, but international tourists will be welcome relief,” Andrews said.

The Business Council of Australia praised the decision in a statement as “the light at the end of the tunnel” for small businesses, tourism operators and the events industry. But it wasn’t entirely celebratory, noting that the move doesn’t apply to the entire country.

Western Australia is the last state with a COVID-zero approach to the pandemic, as NPR has reported, with strict rules and border closings keeping cases relatively low.

Australia as a whole has seen a drop in COVID-19 cases since they hit their peak in early January. About 80% of its population is fully vaccinated.

You need proof of vaccination

For travel into and out of Australia, travellers must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Travelling out of Australia

Vaccinated travellers no longer need an exemption to travel out of the country.

Digital Passenger Declaration (DPD)

All passengers arriving by air into Australia should complete the Digital Passenger Declaration, unless they are flight crew. You can start a DPD seven days before your flight to Australia, but you can only submit a DPD within 72 hours before your departure. This is because you must provide your health information and declaration within 72 hours before your flight. The DPD requests details that are considered critical health information. Passengers must provide evidence that the critical health information was completed before boarding the aircraft. This is an enforceable requirement. A person who fails to comply with the requirement may be liable to a civil penalty (fine) of 30 penalty units (currently $6,660 AUD). This is set out in section 46 of the Biosecurity Act 2015. Passengers who do not make the declaration before they board their flight may be delayed when arriving in Australia.

Top reasons for Migrating to New Zealand

Why New Zealand?

New Zealand is truly an amazing country. The people are friendly, the weather is superb and the lifestyle is unbeatable, with a perfect pace for you and your children. So if you’re serious about your quest for a better life, get in touch with Migration Associates today for successful New Zealand immigration.

New Zealand Lifestyle

Set within a stunning landscape, New Zealand offers residence a perfectly balanced lifestyle. It is a safe and friendly environment for families, offers great career opportunities and the possibilities for exploration and travel.

The high quality of life New Zealand offers is what draws immigrants from all over the world to the country, and New Zealander’s pride themselves on welcoming newcomers. As well as finding approachable locals, you’ll also find many other new arrivals to share experiences with. The country is very multicultural and residents are used to mixing with people with different cultures and accents.

New Zealand can offer all year round activities, beautiful beaches and lakes in summer and some of the best ski fields in the Southern Hemisphere in winter. It also has vibrant and cosmopolitan cities. It is also somewhere you can ‘get off the beaten track’ – Kiwis are known for their love of the outdoors and adventure sports. You are never very far from a great fishing spot, sprawling golf course, walking tracks, mountains or somewhere you can take part in extreme sports.

The quality of life offered in New Zealand is shown again and again in global reports. The 2014 Mercer report ranked Auckland 3rd in the world for ‘Quality of Living’, with Wellington at 12th. A similar survey by the Economist Intelligence unit ranked Auckland 10th of 140 cities, and the UN ranks New Zealand seventh out of 187 countries on its latest Human Development index. New Zealand is truly an incredible place to live.

Top 10 Reasons to Move to New Zealand

1.Spectacular Scenery

New Zealand’s dramatic landscape is renowned the world over. The unique combination of glaciers, active volcanoes and endless lush green hills has long drawn tourists and expats, not to mention quite a few filmmakers. Spectacular mountain ranges make up the backbone of both the North and South Islands with placid lakes scattered through the valleys. You can hike across a glacier, climb a volcano or take a selfie with an active geyser. If you think Australia has the monopoly on beaches, rest assured that the New Zealand’s vast coastline also provides plenty of opportunities to swim, surf and sight-see, including the incredible 90-mile beach situated in the far north of the country.

2.Rich Culture

New Zealand’s fascinating indigenous culture has undergone a strong resurgence in the last fifty years as the government has sought to redress the social imbalance of colonial times. Even the national flag is changing to reflect this change with the final design likely to include the silver fern, a powerful Māori symbol. From traditional artwork and folk tales to the world famous Haka, Māori culture is now woven into all aspects of New Zealand’s cultural identity. The country’s diversity is also apparent in the cosmopolitan cultural scene with events celebrating everything from Chinese New Year to Diwali. There are even some unique festivals you won’t find anywhere else on Earth such as the many Māori Kai food festivals and the Tremains Art Deco Festival in Napier.

3.Outdoors Lifestyle

If you enjoy the great outdoors, New Zealand could be your ideal destination. It is possible to lose days, weeks or months hiking, kayaking and cycling your way around this incredible landscape. For adrenaline junkies, there are the pristine slopes of the Remarkables to ski and incredible Rangitikei rapids to raft your way along. If that’s not enough, don’t forget New Zealand was the birthplace of bungee jumping and still boasts some of the most scenic and exhilarating jumps in the world. To enjoy the country’s beautiful scenery at a slower pace, head to one of the many National Parks and get back to basics with a few days camping, fishing and walking against this spectacular backdrop.

4.Room to Breathe

With 10% more landmass than the UK and less the 10% of the population, New Zealand certainly isn’t short if space. As well as boasting acres of almost untouched wilderness, this low population density means that New Zealand will continue to have room to grow and prosper. As the population grows at a steady, comfortable rate and expats continue to move there, New Zealand will provide space for the homes and facilities they need. While people used to joke that New Zealand was one of the only places on earth where people are outnumbered by sheep, this enviable population density is one of the best reasons to move to New Zealand.

5.Plenty of Jobs for Skilled Expats

The strong economy and unprecedented demands of the Christchurch rebuild project has created a skills gap across New Zealand. The Government has implemented several measures to make it easier for expats to move to New Zealand to take up jobs that cannot be filled locally. Agencies such as Skills in Demand are identifying skills shortages and actively publicising which roles are being recruited where. If you work in a sector currently in demand, it can boost your points score as a skilled migrant or allow you to apply for a temporary work visa. If you are working in a ‘long-term shortage’ area, you can gain a work to residence visa which allows you apply for residency after two years.

6.Weather

New Zealand’s sub-tropical climate is generally warmer and drier than the UK. The east coast of the North Island, in particular, boasts long, warm summers and comparatively mild winters. The country’s lush green landscape is a testament to the fact that New Zealand receives a substantial amount of rainfall yet figures are still lower than those of the UK. This pleasant, moderate climate means that you will be able to spend more time outdoors at the beach or park and you’ll almost certainly won’t need your umbrella quite as much, just don’t leave it behind completely.

7.Multicultural Society

With around a quarter of the country’s 4.4 million inhabitants identifying as immigrants, New Zealand has become a melting pot of European, Asian and indigenous cultures. In cities such as Auckland, you will find a dazzling array of international cultures from China and India to Egypt and Iran. Waves of immigration have shaped this friendly, tolerant and welcoming nation. British expats are well represented in almost every town and generally integrate easily and happily into their new neighbourhood. A recent study by Massey University has identified New Zealand, and Auckland in particular, as ‘super-diverse’.

8.‘The Coolest Little Capital in the World’

Too often overshadowed by its larger, northern neighbour, New Zealand’s capital, Wellington, has worked hard to establish its own character and culture. When Lonely Planet listed it as one of their top five cities to visit in 2011 and named it ‘the coolest little capital in the world’, Wellington had truly arrived. Proud to be the country’s ‘creative capital’, it is home to the New Zealand National Ballet, Symphony Orchestra and Museum. Wellington is also the main base for the production companies behind The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies, making it a must-see for Peter Jackson fans. Wellington’s quirky personality truly shines during its many year-round festivals celebrating food, music and art in the heart of New Zealand.

9.Great Food (And Wine)

While New Zealand may be remote and relatively small in stature, it punches far above its weight in the culinary world. Auckland’s food scene rivals any city in the world from Asian-inspired street food to high end dining from renowned chefs such as Peter Gordon and Jenni Murray. Wellington comes a close second with food festivals and street markets to tempt and inspire any would-be foodie. The increasing popularity of New Zealand wine has also made it one of the top producers in the world. There are several wine producing areas to visit including the famous Marlborough region which you can explore independently or as part of a winery tour.

10.Unique Wildlife

Finally, moving to New Zealand will give you a unique opportunity to get to know the country’s diverse array of fauna. The iconic flightless bird, the Kiwi, has become a national symbol and is now a highly protected and much-loved creature. New Zealand’s coastline and surrounding waters are home to several species of seal and whale, including the majestic sperm whale, which can be seen off the east coast of the South Island. New Zealand even has no fewer than three native species of penguin, the most well known of which is the adorable colony of blue penguins, the world’s smallest species of penguin.

Tech Draws of Canada – Opportunity for IT Professionals

Canada’s tech sector is booming and needs labour to sustain its growth; for this reason, the Canadian government offers ample immigration options for tech workers that want to come to Canada.

Due to the high demand in the tech industry, Canada offers special work permits to tech workers. That said, there are ways for tech workers to immigrate permanently without ever having worked in Canada.

Here are some of the most popular ways for tech workers to immigrate to Canada in 2022:

Express Entry

Express Entry is a popular option for tech workers that want to settle permanently in Canada. Canada’s Express Entry system is responsible for welcoming about 110,000 newcomers each year.

Canada operates three main economic programs through the Express Entry system: Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Trades (FST). The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program is ideal for tech workers with no previous work experience in Canada.

The Express Entry system requires submitting an online profile that is scored by Canada’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Candidates with CRS scores above the cut-off are invited to apply for permanent residence.

While the Express Entry system does not currently consider occupation when determining a candidate’s CRS score, the immigration minister recently hinted at moving toward occupation-based Express Entry draws. This would allow the federal government to select candidates based on specific labour market needs. Since there is a high demand for many tech occupations, this would be good news for tech professionals in the Express Entry pool.

In the meantime, provinces continue to invite tech workers directly from the Express Entry pool through Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).

Provincial Nominee Programs for Tech Workers

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) have become an increasingly popular way for tech workers to immigrate to Canada. Many Canadian provinces offer nominee programs specific to those with experience in the tech industry. Some programs even invite candidates directly from the Express Entry pool to apply for nomination.

Here are three popular PNPs for tech workers overseas that want to settle permanently in Canada:

1. Ontario Human Capital Priorities Stream

Ontario’s Human Capital Priorities stream is a great immigration option for overseas tech workers that don’t have a Canadian job offer. The stream regularly holds targeted tech draws, where they invite tech workers directly from the Express Entry pool.

The challenge of this stream is that tech workers can’t apply without first being invited by the province. In each tech draw, Ontario selects a targeted CRS range to determine which candidates will receive a Notification of Interest (NOI). Those who receive an NOI may apply for nomination within 45 days of receiving the notification.

2. British Columbia PNP Tech

British Columbia’s PNP Tech program provides expedited application processing for candidates with a BC job offer in one of 27 prioritized tech occupations. To qualify, tech workers must be eligible under one of BC’s Skills Immigration streams. The benefit of this program is that it doesn’t require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). Instead, the province of BC may issue a “letter of support” to successful nominees, which can be used to apply for a Canadian work permit. BC’s 27 prioritized tech occupations include,

3. Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) offers an accelerated pathway to permanent residence for certain tech professionals with Alberta job offers. To be eligible under this program, candidates must have a job offer in one of 37 tech occupations, or with an employer in one of Alberta’s identified tech sectors.

This program operates through Alberta’s Express Entry stream. That means that candidates must be eligible for AINP’s Express Entry stream to apply under this pathway.

Like BC, Alberta’s Accelerated Tech Pathway offers letters of support to successful nominees that can be used to apply for a work permit in lieu of the lengthy LMIA process.

IT Professional Requirements in Canada

For most IT-related occupations, one must obtain a bachelor’s degree but some employers prefer a master’s degree in computer science, information science, or a related field. Most Canadian employers also want to see at least 3 years of IT experience, with 5 to 10 years of experience for higher-level positions.

Graduate temporary subclass 485 – Australia

The temporary graduate visa (subclass 485) allows you to remain in Australia to live, study or work after you have finished your studies. The visa has two streams: Graduate Work stream and Post-Study Work stream. The length of your stay will depend on which stream you apply for.

Recent Visa Update

Eligibility requirements for a post-study work visa (Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) will be relaxed if you’re enrolled with an Australian education provider and have been impacted by COVID-19 and associated travel restrictions.

Under these arrangements:
  • You will be able to count this towards the Australian Study Requirement if you’re an existing or new student visa holder undertaking online study outside Australia because of COVID-19.
  • Eligible graduates affected by travel restrictions will also be able to apply for and be granted a Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa outside Australia.
  • Extra time will be given for you to provide English language results if you’re unable to take a test in their home country because of COVID-19.Additional time will also be provided to undertake biometric collection and health checks if COVID-19 has disrupted access to services.

Who is eligible for the temporary graduate visa (subclass 485)?

To be eligible to apply for the temporary graduate visa (subclass 485) you must

  • be under 50 years of age
  • hold an eligible visa
  • have a recent qualification in a CRICOS-registered course
  • meet additional requirements of the relevant stream

Do I need to complete an English test for a temporary graduate visa (subclass 485)?

You may require evidence of your English profiency as part of your visa application. Take IELTS (The International English Language Testing System), an English language proficiency test for study, work and migration.  As IDP is the co-owner of the IELTS test, you can take an IELTS test at any one of our Australian IELTS test centres.

Will I need OSHC (overseas student health cover) to support my application for a temporary graduate visa (subclass 485)?

At the time of application, if you hold a valid Student visa, you’ll already be covered under an Overseas Student Health Cover policy as a condition of your Student visa requirement. You should include evidence of your existing OSHC with your visa application.

However, you’ll still need to get a 485 visa health insurance at some stage during the visa processing period in order for your 485 visa application to be finalised. You’ll be contacted by The Department of Home Affairs as they will need  evidence that you have taken out a policy that complies with 485 requirements prior to issuing your 485 visa.

For example, if your Student visa expires during the 485 visa processing period and you are issued with a bridging visa, your OSHC policy will also expire. Before the expiry of your Student visa and OSHC policy, you must get a new health insurance policy that complies with the minimum level of health insurance for 485 visa holders. Once your 485 visa application is granted you must have and maintain adequate health insurance for your entire stay in Australia.

Difference between IRCC certified consultant vs fake immigration agent
What is ICCRC?

The Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council(ICCRC) is a national regulatory body which operates with the purpose of serving and protecting the public by overseeing regulated immigration and international student advising professionals. According to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act as well as the Citizenship Act of Canada, anyone who provides immigration or citizenship advice for a fee or any other consideration must be a member of ICCRC. The licensed immigration consultants are known as Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs).

How to check if an immigration consultant is genuine
ICCRC registration

One of the most effective ways to find out whether an immigration consultant is genuine or not is to check whether they have registered with the ICCRC. You may enter the RCIC’s name, registration number or the company name into the ICCRC website and find out whether they have an immigration professional page on it.

The Law Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), Section 91:

No person shall knowingly, directly, or indirectly, represent or advise on immigration matters for a fee unless they are:

  • Immigration Consultants who are members in good standing of the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC Member).
  • Lawyers and paralegals who are members in good standing of a Canadian provincial or territorial law society.
  • Notaries who are members in good standing of the Chambre des notaires du Québec

ICCRC Members practice and specialize in Canadian immigration law. They are governed by Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC)

Other than Legal Aspect, other reasons to appoint an ICCRC Member to represent your application to IRCC:
  1. Hiring an ICCRC member assures you of quality services.
  2. RCIC’s are competent and have latest information of Canadian Immigration law, program updates, guidelines and they practice and run their business according to a strict, enforceable code of conduct.
  3. For the client, ICCRC Consultant is a guarantee of Quality and Professionalism.
  4. ICCRC Certificate confirms that the Consultant is an authorize representative recognized by the Federal, Provincial and Territorial Governments.
What if your agent is not approved member of ICCRC?

Always ask your agent if they are licensed by ICCRC or not and check their membership & credentials before starting your immigration process. If your agent is not licensed, you:

  1. May get false immigration information and procedures.
  2. Applicants who pay an unauthorized representative and fail to disclose this information to the Canadian Government may have their applications returned or refused.
  3. You may be held responsible for choosing an unauthorized representative for which you might get banned up to two years before you can reapply.
  4. An Unauthorized agent may charge you unofficial hefty payments directly or indirectly.
  5. You may get into trap of false commitments and unauthorized agents may use unethical & forged documents into your application, which may lead to denial of applications and possibly a ban because of misrepresentation.
IMMIGRATION FRAUD AND SCAMS

Immigration fraud is a serious crime and can take many forms. The information on this page is for everyone and not just for BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) applicants. If you suspect or know about immigration fraud and scams happening, please read the following information.

Who Are ICCRC Agents?

Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC) is a non-profit organization selected by Canadian Government to legalize the immigration counseling career and uphold user’s inquisitiveness.

The names listed in the ICCRC membership directory are all renown and well positioned in ICCRC allied with Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC), or is a certified Agent acknowledged as official Representatives by Immigration and citizenship Canada.

To simplify the definition of ICCRC agents I would like to tell you that they are Canada government authorized representative of the case for the subclass that you are interested to apply for.

Advantage of appointing an ICCRC Agent to represent your case?

The advantage of hiring an ICCRC registered consultant is that they make the whole immigration process simple, accurate and fast paced through their expertise and experience. Canada migration is a tricky process where it seems easy but when we go in the depth we find out how important it is to understand the whole process and the documentation correctly. A small error can lead to disapproval of visa application.

Nova Scotia’s population surpasses 1 million. Know all about Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia is Canada’s second-smallest province in area, after Prince Edward Island. The province’s mainland is the Nova Scotia peninsula, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and including numerous bays and estuaries. Nowhere in Nova Scotia is more than 67 km (42 mi) from the ocean. Cape Breton Island, a large island to the northeast of the Nova Scotia mainland, is also part of the province, as is Sable Island, a small island notorious for being the site of offshore shipwrecks, approximately 175 km (110 mi) from the province’s southern coast.

Nova Scotia has many ancient fossil-bearing rock formations. These formations are particularly rich on the Bay of Fundy’s shores. Blue Beach near Hantsport, Joggins Fossil Cliffs, on the Bay of Fundy’s shores, has yielded an abundance of Carboniferous-age fossils. Wasson’s Bluff, near the town of Parrsboro, has yielded both Triassic- and Jurassic-age fossils. The highest point is White Hill at 533m (1,749 ft) above sea level, situated amongst the Cape Breton Highlands in the far north of the province.

Nova Scotia marks a major population milestone as the province surpasses one million people, following record growth since July 2021.

“Reaching the one million mark is a significant moment in our province’s history. After years of a declining population, the world is learning how special Nova Scotia is; we have momentum and are growing,” said Premier Tim Houston. “More people make us stronger in every way. We all benefit from this growth with a greater tax base, new businesses and jobs, greater diversity and culture and improved infrastructure. I ask our citizens, employers, communities, schools and workplaces to open their arms to new Nova Scotians and provide a warm welcome to all who choose our spectacular province as their home.”

A key priority for government, as identified in Ministers’ mandate letters, is economic growth. In collaboration across the government, with businesses, communities and other stakeholders, the Province is working to attract and retain more young people, entrepreneurs and skilled workers who deliver essential services such as healthcare, education and construction.

Immigration has played a large part in growing the population in Nova Scotia. The Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration continues to work with employers to find innovative ways to respond to current and emerging needs in occupations where there are shortages and help to streamline the immigration process.

To grow Nova Scotia’s population to two million by 2060, the Province aims to attract 25,000 newcomers per year through a combination of migration from other parts of Canada and strategic immigration efforts.

While Canada’s real-time population clock website is currently offline, Statistics Canada’s The Daily report for today, December 16, indicates Nova Scotia has surpassed one million.

Nova Scotia immigration programs

There are a number of immigration programs specifically for people who want to move to Nova Scotia.

Canada’s main immigration pathway, Express Entry, is open to anyone who wants to live in any Canadian province other than Quebec. To immigrate through Express Entry, you need to be eligible for one of the three Federal High Skilled immigration programs: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, or the Federal Skilled Trades Program.

Nova Scotia also has its own Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Express Entry candidates may be eligible for such PNPs as the Nova Scotia Experience Express Entry, Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities, or the Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities for Physicians.

The Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NSPNP) also offers programs for those who are not eligible for Express Entry. Workers may be eligible for the following three programs: Skilled Worker, Occupation In-Demand, and Physician Stream.

There are also two streams that are specifically for entrepreneurs: the Entrepreneur Stream and the International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream.

Then there is the Atlantic Immigration Pilot (AIP), which includes Nova Scotia as well as Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. Employers in these provinces can use the AIP to hire foreign talent, and set them up with a settlement plan. An early study of the pilot suggests that the settlement plans are already helping to improve retention rates.

Immigration Minister Sean Fraser, who is from Nova Scotia, recently announced that the AIP will become a permanent program in the new year.

Nova Scotia Wants To Double Population By 2060

Nova Scotia is hoping to double its population over the next 38 years by attracting 25,000 newcomers per year both through immigration and by attracting newcomers from other parts of Canada.

The province’s Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration is working with employers to find innovative ways to resolve labour shortages and streamline the immigration process.

“Reaching the one million mark is a significant moment in our province’s history,” said Premier Tim Houston. “After years of a declining population, the world is learning how special Nova Scotia is. We have momentum and are growing.”

The provincial premier sees population growth as a key to boosting Nova Scotia’s economy.

“We all benefit from this growth with a greater tax base, new businesses and jobs, greater diversity and culture and improved infrastructure,” he said. “I ask our citizens, employers, communities, schools and workplaces to open their arms to new Nova Scotians and provide a warm welcome to all who choose our spectacular province as their home.”

In its latest Provincial Economic Outlook, TD Economics forecast the Nova Scotian economy would grow by 4.2 per cent by the end of this year and 2.4 per cent in 2022.

Immigration to Nova Scotia has been steadily increasing, from 3,405 new permanent residents in 2015 to 5,485 the following year. The influx of newcomers slowed somewhat in 2017 with only 4,515 new permanent residents but picked up again in 2018 with 5,965 new arrivals.

Then, immigration jumped by almost 27.1 per cent in 2019 to hit 7,580 new permanent residents.

New Pathways To Permanent Residence

In its bid to draw more immigrants to its shores, Nova Scotia is doing more than just marketing itself. It is also introducing new pathways to permanent residency.

This year, Nova Scotia immigration  launched a new Provincial Nominee Program stream targeting international graduates, the International Graduates In Demand stream of the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP).

It is open to workers with permanent job offers in one of two National Occupational Classification codes:

  • NOC 3413 – Nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates, and;
  • NOC 4214 – Early childhood educators and assistants.

As well as a job offer from a Nova Scotia employer that corresponds with their fields of study, international graduates must also have completed at least half of their courses in the Atlantic province.

The NSNP has a total of nine different streams with a target processing time for applications of three months.

The nine streams are:

  • Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry;
  • Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities: Express Entry;
  • Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities For Physicians: Express Entry;
  • Skilled Worker;
  • Physician;
  • Occupations In Demand;
  • International Graduates In Demand;
  • Entrepreneur, and;
  • International Graduate Entrepreneur.

Nova Scotia also operates the Study and Stay program which is aimed at helping international students from China, India and the Philippines stay and build careers in the region after they graduate.

The province previously operated a Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry stream, but this was closed permanently as of Jan. 4, 2021.

Then, there’s the Atlantic Immigration Pilot, an employer-driven group of three programs:

  • The Atlantic High-Skilled Program;
  • The Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program, and;
  • The Atlantic International Graduate Program.

The Atlantic High-Skilled Program is aimed at skilled workers with management, professional or technical/skilled job experience with job offers of at least one year.

Those with offers for permanent jobs requiring a high school education and/or job-specific training can apply under the Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program.

The Atlantic International Graduate Program is aimed at candidates who have a degree, diploma or other credential from a publicly-funded institution in an Atlantic province and an offer for a job that will last at least one year but no work experience.

Each job offer made through the AIP requires provincial endorsement. The application for endorsement is handled by the employer after the candidate has their Settlement Plan.
